Cam Sensor Is not a Fix for Recalled Bikes

Hi Snerkler not actually stalled but I've dipped clutch not convinced it won't stall if I hadn't pulled clutch in swiftly.

is it still actually stalling on downshifts or is it just a bit of a farty pick up when you blip the throttle ? Agree with Ape - for this money you have got be 100% satisfied with the bike - have you compared it with their demo bike ?

sorry you are stil having to endure this.....

Just goes to show ..... of all the thousands of miles that these machines are allegedly tested for, you would have thought that these problems would have emerged earlier .... but as we know there is no better test pilot you "Joe Public"

just a bit farty on pick up

I think there is an element of they all do this on the blipping throttle pickup. Also it seems to be getting better with mileage ( now 1400) - or maybe I am getting better at the right speed of throttle blipping. how many miles have you done, is it running well otherwise and what do others think about the farty throttle blip being normal ?

Hi I've done around 700 miles. Yep I think you're probably right as it's otherwise perfect.

Hope you get this sorted soon. Saly, leave it to BMW to find the issue and recall and you'll wait until 2015 if current issues are a guide. Keep at it.

I think this kind of problem highlights a growing trend with bike engineering.

We don't have mechanics any more, we have technicians. They check for fault codes and replace sub assmblies. These days, I don't know who does what on my bike. They only follow the manual, swapping bits at your expense until you go away.

When we used mechanics (some might say when bikes were simpler), they looked at the problem, analysed it and logically eliminated different possible faults until something gets fixed.

If Tony at CJ Ball got anything wrong he knew he'd have to answer for it to me. Similarly he did loads of clever, cost saving work on our bikes to keep us running when times were hard. Now we're in BMW land we don't have a Tony. Shame.

It seems that unless an issues is identified by the Fathership in Germany and then disseminated, it doesn't really exist.

Don't despair......................there are still some 'Tonys' in the BMW dealerships..................who know 'work arounds' for FPC failure and EWS failure and produce clever stuff, you just have to know where to find them.

They are the real BMW Engineers:clap:clap

Mine is a bit 'farty' on short rapid blips from 3rd to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st.

It seems to be better now after 2,000 miles or may be I have adjusted - it doesn't seem to do it if I take bigger lazier blips. Has always been ok with fast blips in the higher gears.

It is not really a problem, just a bit irritating when I have been used to the faster pickup on my old 2005 model.

Maybe it is something to do with new flappy thing in the exhaust at lower revs or ????

But I just luuuurve that big extra gob of torque at low/mid revs and the smoother less juddery low speed running :D
