Chaps . You May or may not know but I was a Medic for Global Enduro. A GP with trauma training . Did it for 7 years , Himalayas , Southern India and Cambodia . I am Looking at getting a trip together in November this year/ or Feb 2014 with a Para Medic , us leading the trip giving full medical support / access to helivac if needed , Meet and greet at Heathrow take you there , bring you home working with a group of guys I know out there . I need probably 15 people to make it viable .Price to be decided but looking at between £2500 and £2750 without flights . We will ride XR 250's /Baja 250's going from Phnom Penh to siem reap . we do most of our riding off road , the first day is on road to get to the Jungle . You need to be fairly proficient off road but not an off road God . Looking at a 14 day door to door trip with the most amazing back up and the best place in the world to ride off road . nothing is set in stone yet , but if you are interested and I can get enough people interested its a GO !! I have been 5 times and love it out there. It is changing very quickly and soon the roads/Jungle routes we do will be gone as the Korean's are building big tarmac roads that will make the death/kings highway vanish. No money commitment needed yet , just need to know if this is viable . 15 Souls needed Max 18 .Have a think . You will have a British Doctor plus British Paramedic with full Cambodian Support leading your trip , plus my close Mate with 20 years experience of living in Cambodia . Interested ?

This Cambodia trip ...
Could you possibly add a little more detail to the thread please ?
Things like accommodation details - do we live in the bush or hotels or whatever ?
Are meals provided ?
What are the temperatures ?
Trail conditions - mud, gravel, easy, hard ?
Do we take our own bike gear with us ?
Where do we ride - Phnom Penh to Siem Reap is only 314 km so there must be a bit more to it than that.
Days off / visits to places ?
That sort of thing if you could please.
Thank you kindly.

ok Start is in the Capital in a nice Hotel , accommodation is in Hotels/Guest Houses . one night Camping in Praeh Kahn near the end , good tents all set up . Temperature is 28 degrees in November , 32 degrees in Feb , November is the wet season so some Mud / water crossing . A lot of sand but there is a way of doing that , sit back and gas it . You will need your own gear , I use forcefield and motor cross gear . There is a day off in Banlung after 3 days riding , its 1200km in all doing a loop up to the east then across via Streng trung , We go to the Thai , Vietnam Laos borders . We will visit many Ankoreal Temples , some not on the map . heres a taste of it via Cambodia Expeditions who I will be working with . Breakfast and evening meal included as are transfers . You pay a Bike breakage deposit plus fuel lunch / beer /soft drink kitty .bike deposit repaid if you don't total the bike !! here's what we used to say !

This dirt bike tour will take you to see the temples that even Lara Croft couldn't reach (and even a couple that she did). The most comprehensive tour of the most inaccessible of the Angkorian Temples offered by any tour company in Cambodia. A must for the experienced dirt biker and adventurer, some of the most outstanding riding to be had anywhere in the world

Highlights

Preah Khan Temple

This temple is thought to be the largest temple enclosure constructed during the Angkorian period. Due its remote location, with no major roads leading to it, it is also one of the most seldom visited. But this is soon to change as progress is being made to reconstruct Route 66, the ancient Angkorian highway that used to link the temple to Angkor Wat to the northwest and the temple of Sambor Pre Kup to the southeast. Once this highway is finished, due in late 2006, tourists from Siem Reap will have easy access to the area.

The temple has a long history, thought to date back to the 9th century, then enjoying a resurgence in use in the 12th and 13th centuries through the patronage of one of the most influential of the Angkorian God-Kings, Jayavarman VII. This has left the area around the temple a treasure trove of ancient monuments both large and small, including a temple outside of the main temple walls that bears a striking resemblance to the Bayon temple in Siem Reap. With its towers carved of multiple faces it is thought to be the legacy of Jayavarman VII. One of the other many architectural highlights of this magnificent temple is one of the best-preserved 'Garuda Bridges' of the entire Angkorian group.

Koh Ker Temple

Deviates from the classic design of the Angkorian temples by virtue of being a pyramid, affording magnificent views of the surrounding countryside as far as Siem Reap.

Preah Vihear Temple

The most complete of the three and sits atop of an 800-metre plateau on the northern Thai border.

Camping in an Angkorian Temple

An opportunity not to be missed while it is still available. Preah Vihear and Koh Ker have both had new roads built to them, which have yet to effect the number of people visiting them, but time waits for no man and one day this area will be almost as busy as the temples of Siem Reap and camping in them will be out of the question. The road to Preah Khan is still under construction and will be finished in late 2006.

Warning: These temples are being put on the tourist map, they will remain deserted for only a limited period. Catch it while you can.

The Cambodian Rural Experience

Camp in a small Cambodian village and look through a small window into the country's rural traditions. See a way of life that has changed little since the Bronze Age. And enjoy spending time in the company of ordinary Khmer people, whose warmth and humour are legendary.

I can give more details to those interested just PM me

It is the best Bike trip I have ever done . hence gutted when Global ceased trading .

I'm interested. Did some trail riding in Northern Thailand a couple of years ago and loved it over there. Sooner the better for me.

Please keep me posted.

Regards

Chris
