Cambrian Rally 2007 who's entered? Advice wanted

Cambrian Update

Marked the course at the weekend, done 3/4 of it in my car - but ripped the whole of the back bumper off in some mega ruts, only got out because it's got a LSD (Limited Slip Differential)

A few changes from my last post - we had to change the route after the first special stage to the Strata Florida track on day 1 due to logging operations and the second special stage will be the same each day for the same reason.

There's a "nice" loop in the section after the first special stage that will be "interesting" for the big bikes, marshals and cameras will be there to gloat and get evidence of creative riding :D

There's a nice downhill rut immediately after the end of the first special stage on day 2 down to the Strata Florida track that will keep the timing marshals at the end of the stage entertained - I'm volunteering for that :thumb2

We're only using a few of the shallower crossings on Strata Florida in deference to the drinking abilities of 1200's (I was on the Fords run at the Hograost, I know what they're like).

Although most of the course is gravel roads some are better than others ;) and I only take my car around because I know that with the LSD is takes a lot to stop it (and it's old and I only use it for the forests).

It would be very easy to go very quick around much of the course and it would also be very easy to crash big time. There are bends in the gravel road around the reservoir where you could very easily go straight on - and then have time to get your camera out and take a few photo's as you fly down into the water :eek:

Quite a few of the gravel roads were used in the Tywi 2 Day British Championship Enduro, and will be used in the Wales Rally GB so they not all nice and smooth :thumb

Surely it can't be any worse than one of Timpo's hard runs :augie
I'm not nervous honest :mmmm

No training or experience...

No motorcross gear...

Bike with $$$ investment, not easy to source replacement bits...

=

I'm shitting myself !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm game for a laugh, I've not thrown myself over the handle bars for a while so it must be due soon.:o

I just may wear my Tech3 boots after what happened on Tims Pre Cambrian bimble although I just couldn't find the gear lever with them. I'll bring my dealers just in case;)

Its a 1000 mile round trip for me so I hope I last more than 10 minutes......:(

See you there on Friday:thumb2

Will I need to replace mr rear indicator, that went astray on the Hafren?

I'm also hoping to park the car and trailer at the start as it's half term I'll only be able to ride saturady as I'm of on holiday with the kids and will need to shoot of from there.

Still to work out friday night logistics... might aim for a B&B on the way and finnish the journey the next morning.

The Airheads not the best for deep water....hmmmm

I did say that we're only using a few of the shallower crossings on Strata Florida and they shouldn't cause anyone a problem :augie

Wreford - everyone will be parked at the start/finish area for the event but you won't be able to get there until Saturday morning and just tape up a broken indicator, we don't check if it's working.

Boots, knee braces, body armour wouldn't have made any difference:(

After last weekend I'm just treating the Cambrian as a 'brisk', enjoyable trail ride, anything more than that is a fine line between a few seconds quicker than your mates or a few months in hospital.

Mind you, I say that now......
Your numbers on the bike, red light lingers, heart's beating, revs rising, eventually flashes green, red light turns to red mist, Ricks one minute ahead......the clock's ticking:green gri

Quick note for #285

I'm # 286 you may wish to tape up your lights to avoids breaks when I pass you... My airheads in roosting mood.

The Cambrian's quite special for me... I use to camp with my dad and now gone to a better place brother a few miles down stream from the Dam and together we watched that Dam being built over several years.

That area has so many special memorys for me...

Just back from hols and got start info today.

As I said first rally, so a bit nervous, excited, well one of the two.

Tim , havn't seen you since tour of Baltics be nice to say high as you flying past me!!

Wreford - everyone will be parked at the start/finish area for the event

Although camping at the Llandovery RC, I will take my Land Rover up to the S/F Area on Saturday morning. I can ferry some gear (fuel cans/tools,etc) up for people if so required. Make sure all your fuel cans are marked up with your name.

Timpo.

Tim,

I do have a GS1200 but for this little excursion I will be on WR450. To be honest I do not want to wreck Beema as it is only one year old, and I keep falling off doing green laning!!!!

Sounding more difficult than first thought, water crossings are a concern for me.

No need to worry you'll be fine :augie
