Hmm, you're right Phil, about the start, but I had assumed the "social" on the Saturday night would be in the Rugby club. I shall call the secretary tonight and ask.

Gunner, we got a room here and its allegedly only 5 miles from Llandovery. One of our 'teammates' has stayed there (under previous management) and reckons its a good spot :nenau

The start is in the Dalarwen forest block at SN 78427 49288 - over the dam wall and about 1 mile into the forest. It's about 15 miles/30 minutes North of Llandovery. Camping is usually OK at the Rugby Club and the buffet/social is in the Castle Hotel from about 8 pm on the Saturday evening.

Went up to check the route/road book on Sunday, reservoir was very low but rain was like a monsoon and I could see the reservoir filling up!

Tried a possible new bit on the GSA but two others with me struggled on a 400 KTM and a 250 Yam, both with enduro tyres (I was on Tourances) so they helped me turn the bike around and I chickened out - that bit won't be used but two other new bits will be.

Sunday start will be 9 am not 10 am, and all should be finished by 4 pm each day.

Sh*t I don't like the sound of that Bob  . I've done the PJM, Hafren, Ryedale etc on my pogostick but have entered on my 650GS for the Cambrian because it was supposed to be the easiest of the year  . Be gentle with me :o

Jockser - Llanerchindda used to be good, then went downhill but as you say is now under new management. I don't know what it's like now, but lots of Trail Riders use it. There's a short cut from Llanerchindda through the lanes to Rhandirmwyn which is on the road between Llandovery and the start at Llyn Brianne.

Mouse - They use the practise field for camping, it's only when that's under water that they stop the camping :D

Tonibe63 - don't worry I did the rest on Tourances

dibdob69 - no, it's closer to Llandovery - in the Dalarwen forest block at SN 78427 49288 - over the Llyn Brianne dam wall and about 1 mile into the forest.

Cheers for that Bob :thumb I'd say by the time the days ridin' is done we won't care about anything other than having somewhere to lie down :D
And hopefully we'll find the lanes ;)
Leavin' here two weeks tomorrow :bounce1 :bounce1

Oh nuts how did I miss this event.
I haven't taken part in any motorsport for about 20 years and have thought over the last year about maybe doing a long distance trial, something like the Lands End. This event looks like great fun and I will certainly try to budget for it in nexts years calander.
Good luck to all of you taking part
Any pics from last years event?

5 days to go to my first off road rally on the 650GS and the questions are starting  .
I am riding from home to the event so will keep road tyre pressures until there but what pressures will I need to ride offroad-bearing in mind I have no rimlocks on the TKC80's?

I've never had a tyre slip or puncture at 15psi front + rear.

I'll bring some really big cable ties if you want to put them on your tyres. Budget rim locks :) But take them off after the rally or they'll mark your rims (ooer).

So, let me see, I'm bringing cable ties, a sprocket for Jase, maybe I should set up a little shop on the rugby field? :D

Rugby field

Mouse

if you set it up at the Rugby field , you will be on your own
start and finish is at SN 78422 49276 (os Map 147 )
what is the best road from Birkenhead ? arriving at 0600 on saturday morning as usual

Gunner

Phil: several people are camping at the rugby field though :)

Best route from Scallyland is probably down M53, A5, then follow the A483 through Welshpool, Newtown, Builth Wells and towards Llandovery. Not sure of the best place to turn off the 483 for Llyn Brianne but the map in the final regs should get you there.

Phil - having looked at the map, if you're travelling in a truck the easiest way might be to go all the way into Llandovery and then back north through Rhandirmwyn (see map in final instructions) otherwise trying to come in from the north you'll be doing a huge distance on tiny little roads. Or that might not bother you :)

Tonibe and Jase / Mav - I should be arriving at the Rugby Club at about 5pm today. If you're around and want to come and get sprockets / cable ties or whatever, feel free :) Mav especially, I'm not sure if there'll be time to change the sprocket tomorrow morning during scrutineering.

See you all there chaps :)

Cambrian

Big thanks to Bob J and his WTRA team - another great weekend.

Had a real blast on the HP2, managed to stay on top of it this time!

The heavy rain forcasted stayed away for most of the weekend thankfully but we did have to lash the tent to the truck to stop it being blown away in the gale on Sat night!

Feel about ten years older this morning but still grinning.

Cheers, Rick.

What a great event. First time using my F650GS offroad and it was a blast. Glad you cut the wooded section from the Sunday route which I got stuck in when following a mate on the Saturday  -thanks to the 3 marshalls it took to get me up the hill and apologies for the face full of roost. Thanks to Bob and all at the WTRA for all their efforts to make the event happen and the finishers medal was a nice touch. Got home at 9pm Sunday-cold, wet and hungry but very happy after a total of 620 miles on the bike. Need to get myself on the BMW course and then maybe get a Dakar.

Cheers-Tony.
