Just been trying out a zumo 550 and noticed that the speed camera alerts only activate when nearing a rear facing camera on my side of the road.
It does not alert to cameras on the other side, ie forward facing, which will still take your piccy if going too fast.

Is this the way they are or is something not quite right?

Its the same on the poor persons Zumo

it does flag up "proper" front facing cameras.

Rear facing cameras on the other side of the road don't show up as they are no "risk" to you because

1. you're on a bike so no front number plate
2. even if you're in your car and it flashes , it can't be used to give you a ticket. I think they only flash once

I use http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ and from memory, they do show both ways as at most sites they've made the infrastructure on both sides :(

If the cameras are only forward facing and you're on a bike, as long as you don't take the p1ss then the occasional transgression will probably be not followed up. If it gets to double figures and you give them the two fingered salute, then they'll try a bit harder to find you, as at least two cases in the press have proved :(
