Camera POI database for Quest?

A question for Quest experts: is there a POI database for the Quest which marks Gatsos, red light cameras etc.? and if there is, is it downloadable for free? I'm currently using TomTom Navigator on a PDA, with a CF GPS device - its a bit flaky, but it does have one great feature which is the ability to use the dowloadable camera database available free from pocketgps.co.uk. With this database the TomTom program lets off pings and bongs as you approach cameras. I'm very tempted to buy a Quest to replace the PDA setup but I want something that retains the camera warnings. There's no mention of compatibility with Garmin on the pocketgps site, but the POI can be dowloaded in CSV format, if this helps with an answer...

Can't be done AFAIK.

The quest only allows 500 POI's to be added, and with 3500+ scameras, that's no good, plus the Quest doesn't do proximity alerts.


You can enter them as WP's , then as you approach they'll be visible on the screen, but TBH that won't be any good either I'd reckon.

I've got a GPS based Neo6 and laser/radar detector......there are loads of similar systems like Origin blue I (crap co. but that's personal history ) Road angel etc etc, but it's either one of those, slow down, or use a PDA based system I'm afraid.

Thanks Fanum. Think I'll wait a few more weeks to see what the TomTom Rider is like. Quest scored highly for me as it comes with detailed maps of Europe in the price, whereas TomTom charge by country

Interesting, isn't it;
both the Quest and SP2610 have only 500 waypoints and no proximity alarms and yet these units are the ones that you really want the alerts on.

CoPilot does it on a PocketPC (and a few other PocketPC based packages or so I am told)

On non-auto units Garmin generally put 10 proximity alarms and 1000 waypoints.

The GPSmap 176/176C is has 3000 waypoints and 50 proximity alarms.
The GPSmap 276C has 3000 wayponits and 100 proximity alarms.
