This may have been covered elsewhere, but I can't find it. Last week I bought a pretty sweet new Nikon digital SLR and a couple of lenses. Obviously I'll want to be taking this on the bike with me. However, I've already scuppered one iPod with the bike vibrations, and given this is significantly more expensive than an iPod, I don't want to damage it. Being new to the world of SLR photography, I'm not sure how sensitive lenses/mirrors etc are to bike vibration. Anyone any advice on how or where to carry it while riding or if they've ruined any cameras doing the same thing? Thanks in advance. :)

tank bag with memory foam cut to shape for the camera - did me on my travels and camera survived fine :thumb2

Many years ago I had a camera case from Camera Care Systems (CCS). With an SLR in it I dropped it down a scree slope on Pavey Ark. Not a mark on the camera and all worked perfectly.

I carry my Canon Digital SLR in a Lowepro rucksack style camera bag (usually in my top box although on the odd occasion wearing it.)

No problems with that setup so far and have been carrying the camera this way for over 4 years.

The same bag protected the camera when snowboarding (including a high speed crash where I slid on my back)

On my recent Scottish trip I had an older Lowepro bumbag style bag that the camera rode in inside my tank bag - but this was cos I wanted to ride the roads up there with no top box or panniers.

These travels you speak of obviously didn't include the certain French autoroutes:augie

Haha I'd actually forgotten about that otherwise I wouldn't have posted :D:blast
Yes - make sure you don't take your new camera out whilst riding to take a photo of your buddies. . .
