Camera zoom problems. (Fuji FinePix 4700)

I have a Fuji finepix 4700 zoom and its telling me that it has a zoom error ??
It started out as an intermittent problem but now appears to be permanently there.
The camera is about 5 years old, I paid more than £500 quid for it then, I think that a similar spec now would cost less than £100.
Does anyone have experience of this problem, is it terminal or an easy fix ?

Its been a good camera, is this the end.
