Right, if I succumb to an action camera will it

A) be a new opening in my exploration of motorcycling, capturing amazing images that I will treasure forever and amaze and inspire my friends

Or

B) sit in a draw after a week

Sit in a drawer after a week because 99% of what you capture will be worthless and or boring. The other 1% will be pretty good though.

its all about the final edit of what you have recorded.
Then put a decent sound track to it

Nothing more boring than watching someone pottering down a road for +20 mins with a few bends here an there an all you can hear is the sound of wind and the engine. IMHO

Get some decent editing software an learn how to use it

otherwise it may just end up in the draw in 2 weeks never to be seen again.

What Camera have you invested in?

Hi Andy,

am asking the question before I hand over the hard earned... looking at Hero 3+?

Pete

I splashed out on a 4 black
not used it much TBH but as Marki says 99% is crap

heading off on a long trip soon so should get some good footage while away, but then its the editing after that takes a lot of time an effort to produce something that others will want to see.

I cant seem to find the time to sit down an do the editing and get used to the editing software to make anything worth posting.

the actual riding of the bike and filming it is the easy bit

Ok, thanks all. Looks like investing in a decent (stills) camera is a better option as in "this road was fekkin' awesome'.

It is all in the editing.......... And to make a good road movie, you are looking at around one hour of editing to one minute of finished footage to make it look professional'ish.

Good luck with whatever you go for.

If you do get one:-
1/ don't trust the go pro mount - put a cord leash between the camera and what ever its mounted to
2/ the hero cameras hammer batteries so rig up a separate power feed

You'll get lots of shots like this. Trying to figure out if it's working or not.

I use my GoPro quite a lot. Often fasten it under the seat of my pushbike facing backwards, to film my little boy riding behind me.

Use it on my air rifle when Mr Nutkin tries to steal my bird food..

Sometimes put it on my boys bike handlebars facing towards him to capture his funny expressions whilst cycling. Used it on the end of my rods when trying to find a blockage in the sewer (covered in cling film). And of course they are useful if you decide to get the corner wrong when about to negotiate The Mountain at Cadwell and decide to do a bit of off roading instead!
