Can anyone recommend me a camping chair (as an alternative to sitting on the ground), that will strap comfortably to the back of the GSA...?
All the ones I have seen seem really long and heavy to the point that one which I measured was longer than my H+B panniers are wide !!!

Your Input would be much appreciated gents

Discuss....W.H.Y?.......:thumb2

If you carry a 9 man tent (a la our 'Taj Mahal), no chairs will stick out beyond it :thumb

Use a pannier instead? Always worked for us and they make great tables and fire breaks as well

I have the perfect thing for you.

I'd been looking for a small collapsable seat (with a back rest ) for the bike for ever and not found anything even vaguely small enough. Didn't occur to me to look in a BIKE shop for such a thing, and so I was pleased and surprised when I found exactly what I was looking for in..... Hein Geriche.

Packs down to the same width as my Ortlieb rollpack, and the same 'girth' as my tent. Perfect. £7.99 IIRC. :thumb2

I have one of these ... http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/...=7854&osCsid=bb3fb49c081e4d52cead8329ebe270ac

It's light and small and, well, means that you don't have to sit on the ground. However, it obviously doesn't have a backrest, and I've come to the conclusion that having a backrest is a good idea.

I've recently come across these ... http://www.kermitchair.com/

They seem to be very highly rated (and expensive), for example ... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150463&highlight=kermit

Here you go.
They don't come much camper than this.

Oh yes they do !

+1 for the Kermit chair. I have one and find it excellent. It is designed to withstand Americans ;)

I picked up a couple of camping chairs from Tesco during the Summer - £3.50 each and easily strapped down on top of ally panniers. Don't know if they are still doing them as they may be seasonal sales only.

I've been using them for a couple of years. The "armless" ones are plenty small enough to go on the back of the bike.

But surely it wouldn't be as wide as your crashbars / handlebars. :nenau

Personally I just use your standard Tesco foldaway job. They are comfortable, but they are not fire resistant. :D
