Camping around Carcassonne

5 of us are heading to the south of France at the start of June and hope to spend 4-5 days based in or around Carcassonne.

Can anyone recommend any good campsites in the area?

There is a good site with shop and restaurant/bar located just outside the "Old Walled City"

I stayed there, very good. But that was more than 20 years ago. There were quite a few others scattered about, as there generally are in france .

A long time ago we camped just outside a village calle Ville Rouge La Cremade which was a short drive to Carcassonne. As Elvis died while we were there you can (as with Steptoe's post) take that for what it is worth.

I do however have a mate with a holiday home in carcassonne who may be able to help?
