Thanks for positive replies. As for others maybe you should lighten up a bit? I can't believe why people bother posting if all they can do is critisise. I thought this would be a fun place to join but having read a lot of the posts it seems a lot of people are up their own arses
Just bought gear and tried it at the weekend. Really enjoyed it.
The trouble is we couldn't fit the bbq on the bike. Can you get one of those trailers for the GS like they tow behind Goldwings?
I've only camped twice in my life and hated it - I like my creature comforts, especially on holiday (nice comfy bed, the wife to snuggle up to, a nice cooked breakfast without cooking it myself or finding the nearest cafe/supermarket)
Hell, we even try to avoid Travelodges as their beds are rubbish - much rather pay an extra tenner for a Premier Inn when booking a cheap room online

These have go to be the best idea. I hate BBQ's personally, but these work well, are cheep and when your done go straigt in the bin.
We did the camping thing for three years and 5 tents. We bought various types; cheep, expensive, big, little, light and heavy and used them both in the UK and Europe. We finally decided it wasn't for us and bought a camper. The bikes now follow behind in the trailer. We are still on the camping field, can stop where we want (some times cheeper than camping) don't need to plan the trip and don't need to spend time setting up and breaking camp. Warm and comfy at night too
If camping is your thing, you will love it. If it's not. There are other ways round it.
