camps sites - Galway/Dublin

Dear tossers

Ahead of Wale's historic win tomorrow, I should be grateful for local knowledge of camp sites in Eire. I'm going to give the new Swansea/Cork ferry a try so will arrive Cork 7am and have Thursday and Friday am to make Enniskillen. A nice clockwise ride though Kerry/Dingle looks attractive so would welcome recommendations for camp site in/near Galway.(Feels about the right distance). Then afternoon ferry back Dublin/Holyhead Monday so need site somewhere NorthWestish Dublin.

Would favour location/view/peace 'n' quiet above caravan club kiddies corner greasy cafe and fully hookedup plastic tubs with brummies playing faux volleyball!

Good to have a long weekend in the "to do" column to look forward to.

In the absence of a reply from anybody who actually camps it falls to a non-camper to provide this link :blast
I can't vouch for any of them, thankfully, but it might give you some ideas ;)
 
I've stopped Here 2 or 3 times over the years, not a bad site with views over the bay.
 
If you fancy to pitch the tent in my back yard, you are welcome to it.
It is in the sticks [Moycullen] though, the Pubs are 2 miles away.

. . that's a generous offer DC. There are 2 spacious beach-side sites near Tullycross; pitch there & see spectacular sunsets.

That almost sounds like an invite for a UKGSer event :augie
 
youse have to bring your own sangwiches, though.
and fill in the trenches before youse off.

Since you mention Tully Cross, there is no end of free camping space along the Galway Bay, or along the Corrib.
The best beach near Tully Cross is Glassilaun Beach = Scubadive West.
There are a few very nice spots near Kilkieran - Finish Island or Ballyconneely too.

That's a hard question to answer directly - there are spots where an overnight is OK but a low profile will extend what you can get away with - in late out early & no one will know you were there missus :augie
Remote beaches are good, resorts are bad. Ranches are bad, small farms might be OK but ask first and be prepared to be refused.
Anything that is not privately owned or is so public that larger louts will make a nights sleep improbable is increasingly hard to find but it is possible in the more remote locations.
