Just a quick question...When I have a wee peep for places to stay on my 2610 it`ll certainly show hotels but under the campsites or RV parking kind of thing, there is nothing listed. Is anyone aware does one have to buy an unlock code to activate Campsites or are they just not in existence.
What think ye...
:)

Campsite were only added on 2009. What version have you ?
I have campsites on my 2008 City Navigator, they're all in Sweden though :nenau

So, does 2009 have campsites all over Europe or just in specific countries?

There's a pretty extensive campsite POI set on here somewhere though on a 2610 you'd have to pick and choose just the ones in the area you're travelling to due to the 500 custom way-point limitation.

Whatton started a great thread here filled with all kinds of waypoints. From memory there are lists of campsites in a few European countries which you can download then send to your 2610.

Hope this helps. :)

I have City Navigator 2008...no campsites as stated...not even Swedish ones!!!
I'm running City Nav 2008 NT, yours will be the non NT version but I would have thought the POIs would have been the same.

Have you tried right clicking the map in Mapsource, 'Find Nearest Places...' > 'Place Category: Lodging' > 'Place Subcategory: Campground/RV Park'. That should find all camping POIs ordered by nearest first.

Tried that just now...nothing showing at all...arrgghhh.....thanks....is this normal...

I`ll see what I can do with this Aidan once I see what it`s all about...thanks..I`ll have to do a wee bit of reading up on what to do...

I`m a CoDown man myself by coincidence...Ards man.....

2009 added over 15,000 campsites. Campsite were not included in POI before this. Now listed in Lodging, > Campground/RV park.

Non NT mapping doesn't include them then. Not much point unless you're camping in Sweden or Norway. Anyway, better to go with the ones from Whatton's thread.

Just load them into Mapsource and use the send to device button with your GPS connected to the PC.

You can select some from an area by using the 'Selection Tool' (arrow), drag out a rectangle, those you select should turn yellow, then copy (Ctrl+C). Open a new blank instance of Mapsource and paste (Ctrl+V). Doing this you can just get those campsites you need for a particular trip and mix in POIs from other collections to save and load onto your GPS. As the 2610 only has capacity for 500 custom waypoints this method will help you remain within this limit.

Thanks for that...story of my life..always too late...I just bought the 2008 last year and now I`ll have to get 2009...it`s almost worth upgrading to get them, and the convienience of having them in the GPS all the time...

Thanks Bumkin...
I think I`ll probably have to go the way of an update due to the fact I`ll leave home say,eg,for Spain and could come back via Portugal...where I don`t know at all where I`ll be camping. I suppose the more bulky option would be to carry Michelin camping guides for each country I find myself in. After 3 books it might be close to spending a bit extra and just get the upgrade for all that wouo dbe in it at that point??...

I`ll see what I can coem up with...I`ll no doubt have another question or 3 about the 2610 once I get to pushing buttons...
:D

It is indeed worth upgrading just for the campsites. Every time I had, had enough, I clicked find nearest campsite and within minutes and miles I was pulling into a campsite. It really has made my Sat Nav worth it.

There speaks a voice of experience no doubt!!!

I ordered the cd tonight...more money out...oh well...

Thanks for input to date...

More questions to come..
