Can a 1150 GSA Clutch hose bleeder be left on permanently?

Hey all, I just flushed my brake and clutch lines the other day. For the clutch line I removed the grub screw and used the BMW bleeder screw. My Clymer manual says you should then but the grub screw back in but is there any reason to not leave the bleeder screw on permanently? Not a big deal one way or the other but it would just save a step when I flush the lines in the future.

I've always just fitted a bleed nipple and left it there permanently.

My Guzzi Breva has a braided line with a bleed nipple which runs from the slave cylinder to under the seat to make bleeding a breeze. Most un-italuan like!

Have you replaced the whole housing that the grub screw went into with only a bleed screw in the end of the pipe?

Yes, then that is fine but if you have only removed the little allen grub screw grease it well and refit it but don;t go mad tightening it You really don't want to get dirt in there or it will never seal properly next time

Yes, the only thing I did was replace the grub screw with the bleeder screw. I guess it just struck me as odd the Clymer recommending putting the grub screw back in. I assumed maybe the bleeder was more prone to allowing contaminants into the hose or something.

I thought putting the bleeder in pushes down the ball bearing inside the housing, therefore enabling you to bleed the clutch, but if you leave it in the ball bearing will still be depressed so fluid can flow out so replacing the grub screw means the ball bearing is not depressed, and it stops crap getting into the housing?
