I’ve heated seats on my KTM, in 5 years I’ve used the front one twice and the rear has never been used. Not a big cost option, but I wouldn’t bother in future. A heated jacket is much better option.Thinking of buying my brother 1300GSA but the miserable git didn’t get a heated seat.
Can it be retro fitted by the dealer?

Is that what you’ve done Col? I’m thinking of doing the same but I wasn’t sure how you control the heating without it being on the tft.If you have a HEX ezCAN for accessories, you can use that to power the heated seat

Thanks Nick, that’s good info. I guess I could set the seat to partially come on in grip setting 2 and fully in 3.I

You connect the Riders seat to the ezCAN. Set it to heated clothing. Then you can set the % of heat to the seat with each grip setting.
With the GS911 tool you can put more heat setting for the grips.
Next time I have a play I will have 6 different heat setting on the grips.
Then I plan to have 3 different settings of heat on the seat.
My plan is to have the heated seat working on grip setting 2,4 and 6.
1,3 and 5 grip setting I will set to 0 seat heat.
Unfortunately. I don’t think you can allow more grip heat setting than 3 on the 1300GS.

Have you also got a heated rear seat connected to the ezcan?
Thanks Col. I have to say I find grip setting 3 too hot to use for long. Have you got the heated pillion seat?Hi Paul,
Just as Nick said, the seat is connected to the heated grips settings, I set my seat to be about 30% on grip setting 1 and 50% on setting 2 , I've never used grip setting 3 but set the seat to be 60%, need a really cold day to see if that settings are correct or not, no big deal if they aren't, its quite easy to change them

Did your bike already have the wiring loom or did you have to sort out another way of connecting it up?All sorted now thanks. Heated seat fits straight on.

My 1300 hasn’t got the seat wiring. I compared mine with a friends and I haven’t got the lead where his connection for the rear seat left the wiring loom. The 1300 has the wiring ready.
I have the basic version, left the factory without a heated seat. Bought mine BMW approved, sales put on a heated seat they had spare.
It works off the handlebar controller, like the heated grips.
Cant comment on earlier 1250 bikes.

Thanks. That could be the difference then, mine isn't a TE. There doesn't seem to be much consistency though, some seem lucky enough to get the full loom whereas others, including mine, aren't.Bike has the wiring loom. It’s a TE so comes with the loom whether you tick the heated seat option or not.
