Electric powered tyre pump?.......needs to be both reliable and compact.

(and should you have such an item you wish to say goodbye to ....... so much the better )

This question has come up before, and in the past I have suggested the cheap electrical pumps you see in Petrol stations, but I now have my doubts. I bought one a couple of years ago for £5, stuck a car / bike combination plug on it (so I could use it on the GS and in the car) and was well chuffed with it - until the thing shook itself to bits - luckily while I was at home. I tried to repair it, but it was a waste of time.

I have heard that Nippy Norman sell them, and would rather pay more for a good reliable one. Halfrauds do sell some, but they were too bulky and would just take up too much pannier space.

Lets face it if its not reliable - its not worth taking it with you.

As Taff says the Slime compressor from Nippy Normans is good.

I've used it at least 20 times to inflate a flat tyre to full pressure at the side of the road and it's quicker than any other I've used

Thanks all ....... looks like the Slime (lovely name that!) is one to go after. Not interested in trying to save a few bob, if don't have the confidence it will do the job when required ....... especially with a flat in no man's land!

Another vote for Slime. Only had to use it once, but very quick. Even used it to pump up the wife's car tyres.

I'l second that. I've also used whattons pump at least 20 times, plus wappings , and they're great.

I'll have to get myself one at some point.

With gauge fitted. Stripped off the crap plastic casing to expose the gubbins (better for cooling) and use a car to B*W adapter.

Tiny, noisy, used 20+ times (car and bike) - no problems so far...
