it depends from where in NI you are travelling. If from Fermanagh direction go via N3 / Cavan bypass to Virginia. Turn off at Virginia then about 8 - 10 miles to Oldcastle or if travelling from Belfast I'd go down the M! and turn off for Ardee (2nd exit from M1 for Ardee), towards bottom of Ardee main street turn right towards Kells, R154 I think. Twisty Road for about 20 miles with a staggered T junction half way, go straight across this junction. It's all sign posted anyway. About 13 miles from Kells to Oldcastle.

Very much country roads to get to Oldcastle from Kells or Virginia.

Hope this helps.

If not in a hurry you could go Dundalk, Carrickmacross, Kingscourt, Bailieborough, Virginia and on to Oldcastle. Or even Newry, Crossmaglen and on to Carrickmacross then carry on. Granted it's longer than just going Ardee, Kells and Virginia but it would be a much nicer run on the bike.

from armagh - keady - castleblayney - shercock - ballieborough - virginia - oldcastle (doing this on saturday :D - done before :D

or enniskillen - a509 n3 then ballyjamesduff oldcastle

Pity you have a car in tow, there are some fantastic roads around Oldcastle including the legendary FORE road race location

I like the sound of this , better than motorway , I don't like straight lines at 70 .. Any more ideas . Coming from Belfast . The car can go another way ..
