I've not been on my 05 GS for several weeks (riding the Tuono instead), so I decided to hook up the Can Bus charger. After two days I noticed that the charge light had not moved from red (1/3 charged or less), and the charger itself was quite hot.
Then I remembered something I'd read that suggested you had to turn the ignition key on to get results. After several hours that failed to produce any change, so I started up the bike and the light immediately went to yellow (2/3 charged). After shutting down the bike the light remained on yellow, and then switched to green (fully charged).
Can someone explain this behavior?

they all do that....:blast

I consulted the manual supplied which was most informative.....:thumb2

you don't have to start the bike

1. connect charger
2. switch on ignition to go through diagnostic sequence
3. switch off ignition
4. immediately switch on power to charger

Remember if you switch of the power to the charger, or a power cut, you have to repeat steps 2-4.

Don't have those instructions. But I've been using this charger for years without seeing this problem. No idea why.
