I'm on a trip at the end of this month to Switzerland - 29th to be precise with a bunch of GSers off this site.
Having only bought an 800 GS last summer it wasn't really kitted out for a long trip so over the past 3 months I've been buying bits in readiness - 140 quid for the holiday - best part of 1500 quid for the bike bits - cheap holiday!
I've bought panniers, hand guards, crash bars, tank bag, touratech bits to stop things wobbling, higher touring screen etc.
All completed last month and then out for a ride on May 1st to make sure it all felt ok and found myself on my arse on a roundabout in Dudley having been knocked off by a range rover who didn't spot me coming off the island.
So.
Knackered bike

And sore arse

The question is - am I going to get to Switzerland at the end of the month??
Looks like the bike has
Wrecked left side pannier and pannier frame
Bent crash bar
Broken mirror
Broken indicator
Damaged screen
Cracked fairing
Broken Nav system
and more worryingly doesn't quite go in a straight line
The bike was collected only yesterday by Clarks in Rednal and hasn't been assessed as yet. Got a visit from the insurers tomorrow to talk about uninsured loss - helmet, jacket and other bits and pieces that disappeared in the accident such as 42 inch plasma, bose sound system
Think I might need a softer saddle as well!
What are the chances of getting to Switzerland on the 29th?
