I keep loads of telephone numbers / photos etc on my mobile, but I'm paranoid of losing the lot. A mate of mine has just lost most of his contacts and telephone numbers and isn't a happy bunny. :spitfire

Is there a simple way of copying the data from the phone (and card) to my memory stick, using Microsoft Explorer? :nenau

What make of phone is it? Nokia have a PC Suite which you can use via cable, IR or bluetooth to download just about everything from a Nokia. I guess other manufacturers have the same however I've been with Nokia so long I don't think I could change now (still can't get the hang of my blackberry which is why I keep the nokia for the phone bit)

Motorola.

I have an USB cable for it, so I can connect it to the laptop, but don't know how to copy the details from the SIM card to the stick. :nenau

I'll have another play with it tonight.

if you have the disc they all offer a simple file manager, I also use the nokia and it's really simple. install software, connect phone push Auto sync button it does it for you... Motorola must have same function...

transfering data back is much the same way, sort of drap and drop... plus you can manage the contacts better and don't have speand ages typing details into phone.

best of luck

PS I do still have a manual set of records just incase....:augie

I doubt there's a way of copying the contacts to the memory stick as such. However as other people have mentioned, the Motorola Phone Tools that is on the CD that came with your phone should have an option to Backup Phone Data, or something along those lines :)

Taff,

I think I may have the Motorola software disc from my last phone . Its just a case of loading the software onto your PC and you can save/manage your phone contacts. You can have it if you need it and assuming i can find it :thumb2

I'm currently a Nokia user and their software works lovely.

My last phone was a Sony Ericsson. Their software was rubbish in comparison. If anyone reading this is still putting up with that software you should try Float's mobile utility. It's lovely. Free from http://fma.sourceforge.net/index2.htm

Thanks boys. :thumb2

Had a look through the box last night and there isn't a disk to install on the laptop. :blast

I bought the phone from my 12 yr old when he upgraded. I doubt he would have lost the disk - he's still got everything else - so perhaps there wasn't one in the box when he bought it. These last 2 links look interesting - Will have a go at them, and will let you know how I get on.
