just bought a minter 05 adventure from down south (155mls) and rode it back like i stole it and it run loverly with the cat and standard exhaust but stuffed in the topbox is a Remus y piece is it going to really improve it??

If you have the BM plastic panniers or a plastic number plate or indicators, you might want to see what might happen with the y-piece fitted

I would in spite of what might happen, as it gives the exhaust a little edge without getting overly loud, saves a whole load of weight too.

Have found over the years that the standard system does seem to work more effectively through out the powerrange. The extra noise is nice for some people. The weight saving on a 240kg bike - how much can that possibly make a difference

I think the difference is as near as makes no difference. I have a Remus + Y-Piece on mine, also have std can and cat. Not changed it back to standard set up as it was like this when I bought it and I'm far too lazy. Plus I'm 90% sure that the bolts are so rusted to feck its never coming off

Leave it alone and just ride the thing. If you fit the Y piece you'll then start messing with the maps on the coding plug, then it'll be something else and before you know it you'll be blinged up to the eyeballs, have melting indicators and number plates and the bike won't run any better for it.

Flog the Y piece and use the money to buy your Mrs an Airhawk.

It's the exhaust gasses coming out the back that's the possible problem. Some bikes do it, some don't. Personally I'd say fit the Bos system that comes with y-piece, end can and replacement chip. But that's the more expensive option.

i have the standard system and it runs sweet is quiet and does not piss anybody off,,,,, as for weight saving have a good shite b4 you go out same result

If you only do short rides you won't burn the plate or indicators.

But you will if you drive for long distances ( 200 miles plus) in one go at high speed.
My L/H indicator was like a dali painting after riding 600 miles across france in one go, and that was with a Y piece and standard can.

It also depends on what panniers you have fitted.

I have a set of verns very large metal panniers, they're very close to the exhaust and the exhaust gases have a very small channel to escape along .
