I’m not able to import a route onto an XT. I think I’ve used to many waypoints on previous routes.
If I delete the previous routes, can I import a route off my phone out of MRA via Bluetooth.
Any help gratefully received
TYIA 👍

When you do import it, it’s also worth remembering the XT has an uncanny ability to manipulate and reconfigure the route, depending on its settings; unless you’ve “tied-down” the route with sufficient shaping points, you could find the XT deviates you from roads you might want to travel.

Always best to review/check your route once it’s been transferred. 👍

Thank you chaps, I’ll look into that when I get back from work.

That’s a good reminder in post #5.

MyRoute recommend having a shaping point every 5 km / 3 miles. It’s advice I follow. I then export from MyRoute to my XT in version 1.1. I then check that what is displayed on my XT matches the route I created in MyRoute. Is the shape of the route the same? Does the mileage tally? Is the estimated journey time near enough the same? All good, great good to go. Using this simple method, I very rarely have any subsequent problems.

PS Don’t, as one fellow on the forum did, create a single route of a thousand or more miles and then expect it to work.

That’s the problem !
MRA said I had exported it, The XT said it had it and did I want to import it. It then got to 100% but the scroll of doom just kept revolving and never finished and won’t open.
By using AI I came to the conclusion that I’d imported routes with to many waypoints.
So, I’ll drop it off my phone onto the XT on day 3 after deleting the prior routes.

I create individual routes for each day. I then number them 01, 02, 03 etc so they are easy to find. I sometimes use MyRoute to give them a date and time of departure. Anything really to get the routes into an order that makes sense to me. Routes I have used, I delete off the XT, as I see no point in keeping them on the device.

How you might name a route is up to you. I name each route by starting with the destination, then where I’m starting from. For example, if I had two routes from Calais to St Omer, on day one, one direct and the other indirect, I’d call them:

01.1 St Omer direct from Calais

01.2 St Omer indirect from Calais

Depending on which route I wanted to take when I rolled off the Chunnel, it would be easy to find.

It works for me.
