Can I wire OEM Spot lights into a Denali CANsmart Unit

Hi all, advice needed please:
I have got a 2018 R1200GS Rallye TE fitted with OEM spot lights.
My question is, can I wire them into the Denali 2.0 CANsmart system so that they turn off when I operate the side indicators etc. If so, does anyone know which OEM electrical plugs I use on my bike to plug into the CANsmart spot light wiring loom. If it can be done, the wiring for the OEM spot lights appears to have one plug blanked off whereas the CANsmart wiring loom has two plugs at the spot light end - where would I plug both of the CANsmart plugs into the OEM wiring loom?
I hope that makes sense.
I suppose the easy answer would be - no you can't wire OEM fitted spot lights into the Denali CANsmart system lol
Any help/advice appreciated.

I've done it with my Denali lights, so doing it with your OEM one's shouldn't be a problem, mind you i've used two separate outputs on the EzCan, thats the only way you can do what you want, re-light switching off at same side as indicator is being used.
 
But if you are happy to have both spots go off when indicating you only need to use one CanSmart or EZcan output. Depends on what you want and whether you want to use the spare outputs for anything else.

You will need to make up a small lead using BMW connector at one end (im not sure where you will get them) and a Plug that will come from Denali. Look here https://www.denalishop.co.uk/led-auxillary-driving-lights/comfort-bikes.html

Mnany thanks Delboy, I had a look at the Denali Shop UK website and they don't appear to sell a BMW wiring plug to Denali wiring loom adapter. I was rather hoping they would. I certainly don't want to cut into my bike's wiring loom to splice in a couple of wires. So I suppose I must now search for some standard BMW wiring male/female plugs.................................anyone got any ideas where I might buy them from........................:confused:
 
Yes you can, I've done it with OEM LED Nano lights and EZCan (same as CANSmart). Have a search.

I have been searching high and low with no success. Could you please elaborate a little on how you achierved it. Many thanks.

Just off the top of my head, I think I’ve seen what is described as a connector repair kit on RealOEM.com parts micro fiche. Put your bike frame number in and have a look. Then, armed with a parts number, contact your favourite dealership parts department.

So I bought a new OEM fog light loom from the dealer, cut off the 2 plugs that go to the lamps, got some automotive 2 core wire, soldered one end to OEM plugs, and other end to EZCan plugs, and ran the wires on the bike from the lamps to the EZCan, by-passing the OEM on bike wiring/switch etc. Easy job really and works great. Easy to go back to standard as well.

As a matter of interest, if you bypassed the bikes OEM wiring and switch etc., how do you turn the lights on and off?

Using the functions of the EZCan, ie using the wonder wheel, and indictor switch. Can alter brightness and loads of stuff.

By the way the OEM Nano spots are male, and plugs are female.

This is the connector that plugs into the Nano lights (what BMW called the OEM auxlight starting a couple of years ago)

When I checked my lights (1250 GSA) I learned the following:

# 1: +12V is switched on and off with ignition
# 2: Signal fro ZFE, common to both lights
# 3: Gnd is connected directly to ground.
# 4: Separate for each light. Goes 'Low, when lights are 'Off', and 'High (+12V)' when lights are on.

The test was performed without the lights connected (i.e I just hooked the probe into the end of the connector).

My next test will be with the lights connected, which may draw a clearer picture.

I've just hooked up the lamp to my work bench power supply. And even if I'm still confused, I can confirm that connecting the Brown and RedBlue wires to Gnd and +12V will make the light work.

What I find confusing (but there is surely an reasonable explanation) is that when I measure the output in the connector on the bike, the RedBlue wire is continuously showing +12V, even if the lights are switched off.

This will probably be different when measuring with the lamp connected (which means I will have to remove the fueltank in order to reach the other end of the OEM cable, as I don't want to split the cable where it may be exposed to weather). And at least for the OEM mounted lights, the Orange and White/Purple , i.e pin #2 and #4, does have some function, as they react to the switch on/off of the lights.

If I should make a wild guess, I will probably be best of to just leave the OEM harness in there, and cut the Blue/Red cable after it it is split. Then connect the light-end to my CAN Switch and perhaps connect the ZFE end of the cable to a resistor in order to avoid fault codes.
 
Reading true old threads I ran into this section searching for my own bike to adjust the nanapods.
