Can I wire up a Denali b6 just as an extra brake light without needing a can smart?

Hi all, As the title says I’m wanting to install an extra brake light (Denali B6) to my 2010 TC. I don’t have a can smart fitted and wondered if I could fit the light just as a secondary brake light (not running light also) without a can smart?? ie just wiring straight to the live and ground from the existing circuit
Thanks

I had a set of Skene P3s wired into my RT without a can smart, they did come with a module controller, but all you had to do was slice the wires.

I would not have thought that you would have a problem, the B6 only draws 0.5 amp - 6w which The ecu should not detect.
If it does it will shut the circuit down until you remove it.
If that happens install a miniature 12 volt relay.
I have a pair of cheap Chinese Led stop and tail light units on my 2012 TC spliced into the rear light loom, they draw just over 1 watt tail and 3.25 watts brake for the pair.
They have been on for years, well until the led`s fail, then I stick another pair on. When I run out of stock I will probably stick the Denali B6 on, so will be interested in your results.

Thanks I’ll let you know how I get on

I fitted the B6 brake light this morning and it works perfectly. with the instructions it says that with BMW’s the red wire cannot be connected to the tail light positive feed and should be wired to a separate switched live (it says one of the wires from the aux socket could be used but as this is for the light to be used as a running light with a lower illumination and something I didn’t want I just taped this wire up leaving an orange and a black
Orange to the brake light poss feed and black to earth and job done.
The flashing aspect of the light would have been a nice option under heavy braking but it certainly wasn’t worth the £200+ of a can smart.
The light is very bright and I’m really pleased with the result. If I get bored one day under furlough I might whip the tail off and wire up the red wire and see if this does give you a running light with no issues of not using a can smart?
