Ok, so I have a pair of good quality Gortex gloves but having worn them a couple of times my right thumb is bottoming out in the glove. They felt fine off the bike but are irritatingly uncomfortable after a while riding. So is there a way I could stretch just the thumb?
TIA…

Could you shorten your thumb a little?

Leather will eventually give a little but not sure about the Gortex.

Plain leather gloves, yes. Where they are layered and bonded in some way then less likely in my experience.

Thanks for your prompt responses. I figured the Gortex/layers might present a problem. Looks like I may have to sell them…

I have a pair of leather gloves which gave me problems putting them on due to the wrist being too small plus they felt tight on the fingers. I soaked them in hot water and stuffed them full of newspaper, using a piece of rounded wood dowel to push the paper well into the thumb and fingers and I squeezed a jar into the wrist to stretch it. I left them for 24 hours and then removed the paper and let the gloves dry naturally and they fit ok now.

Yes but do they have a Gore-Tex membrane like the OP's gloves...?

Thanks, that’s useful. I’ll give that a try

I've a nice hardly used DeWalt 10" contractors table saw for sale, that would work wonders in no time. It wouldn't even be a surprise, especially with the inexperienced types.

You might need to do it a couple of times to get the desired result. I've always found leather gloves need to be broken in just like a pair of shoes, this technique helps to accelerate the process.

Change the thread title to for sale.....

No, I don't know whether that will cause a problem, I'm just giving the OP a possible technique that he can try.

Then your post is of no consequence, Sir and you and your fat wrists should be banished from the realm.

The issue is the Gore-Tex. Having tried unsuccessfully to stretch boots with the membrane I'd be very surprised if anything will make a difference.

You know what they used to get soldiers to do when they got new boots to break in🤔😉 You could try that.

Cut the fingers and thumb off the gloves and have the cool rebel look favoured by the hardly ableson riders .
