1150 GSA air flow sensor.... how does it work? It looks like a little black dogs dick to me:augie

My bike is still buggering around and rough -especially at steady throttle, double especially at around 3k. I've chased this gremlin everywhere without success. I've just had to replace the air flow sensor on the car and it was making it horrible to drive so I was just wondering if - however unlikely - this was/had failed on the bike. I'll try anything now. If someone knows an excorsist then I'd give that a go too:mad:

Normal MAFs flow air across a wire or surface that takes some current as far as I can understand but the little dog dick is plastic so I can't see how it works:toungincheek

If your bike's a twin spark the problem may be a faulty coil pack.

It's not a Airflow sensor, it's a air temperature sensor.

Ahhhhhhhhh. That makes sense. So there is no air flow sensor in this setup? I'll get another sensor anyway, they can't be too expensive, just to see if it makes any difference.

I doubt that it is the air temperature sensor that's at fault. I once forgot to reconnect mine after changing the air filter; it didn't make much difference. Turned out to need the tps adjusting.

Not Fixed Yet?

Hi Monkeyboy

Please don't say this is the same lurching and surging as per the Loomin Ell thread a year ago!

If so, I hope you get it fixed soon :comfort

As per that thread, new throttle bodies and resetting the TPS sorted out my woes. In fact she was at 85K then and now at just under 110K still running like a dream.......other than alternator belt broke......fuel pump packed up....clutch lines and slave cylinder failed....started motor shot.....loads of dodgy wiring and virtually no paint left on her!

Hi Dave - good to hear yours is all good and running properly:thumb

Is the loomin hell bike? Yep fraid so. It was 'mostly' fine when I was away on it but since it's come back its been a complete beeeeeeatch again. Maybe it's spending 6 weeks in a damp cold container that's done it - I don't flippin know. It was so bad Monday I stopped and disconnected the temp sensor but I've not ridden it far enough to tell yet - I'll see tomorrow. I've replaced the TPS before - no difference. It ticks over very low and super smooth - 2.5K upwards are where its happening. I've bought a proper bike now (a Blackbird) so I might introduce the GSA to Mr Petrol and Mrs Matches very soon:tears I'm absolutely sure it's haunted/possessed/gremlin infested. I've spent so much of my life trying to fix this it's just not funny any more. The only thing that ever made a real difference was changing the ECU - could 2 go on me? Is that even an outside possibility? I guess I could buy another but I've had enough of taking the flippin tank off lately:mad:
