Not sure this has been asked. On the Nav 5 can you have the internal music app showing at the same time as a active route. IE split screen view

No. It's 1 screen at a time Nav V & Nav VI, you can however add up to 2 buttons to the map screen that take you straight to another screen or function.
I have music & phone.

If you call two 10mm diameter buttons a distraction then yes.
If youre not easily distracted then no!
