Could somebody help me identify a part in the picture? Usually only found on a R1150GS Adv.

Its the plastic clip that connects the vertical pannier frame to the hinged horizontal pannier frame.

Seen here at the back of the horizontal part of the frame.

Motorworks sell a plastic frame clip part no 7160766869, Which is the part no for item 20 in the picture.

However, if you look at the link to motorworks, you will see that the written description is correct, but the picture does not match.

http://http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=6&Q=71607668697&x=12&y=12

Worth giving them a call maybe to clarify.

I had seen this but thought it unlikely that I would be buying the right part on a guess.

As I own a 3D printer I'm considering printing two of these rather than buying them. Considerably cheaper and means I can justify buying some more filament to the wife with the money I have saved.

Does anybody have a high quality photo from the top that I can use for a outline and I can make one?

Nice setup! :thumb2

But you are diverging from your original request.

There are plenty of hose/pipe clips available, most for pennies. Depending on the diameter of the two tubes, you could screw two pipe clips to a piece of alluminium, to achieve the same result.

Conversely why not just use a re-usable cable tie, if all you want to do is hold the pannier horizontal frame to the vertical.

Or am I missing something, which is more complicated:nenau

I would prefer to replace the clip with a match to the OEM standard.

If somebody has a photo of the part in question then I can easily recreate it with the printer. I was actually planning to improve the design too, probably a catch to lock one side on and a colour improvement, something reflective or luminous. I lost both of my pannier frame clips on the road somewhere, no idea where but they are not the most secure when in the loaded position of only one side of the clip holding them on.

So if anybody can offer a picture of the now identified part, I would be grateful.

Im still on the hunt for a picture of this part if anybody can post one for me, it would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Tony, thats EXACTLY what I needed! :)

If I can be cheeky and ask for a measurement from one extreme to the other, the furthest right to the furthest left, then I can scale the image and build a model.

Do you have a full set yourself? If I can return the favour let me know.

Some more pics for you. If you do make a set I could do with some spares as I have had them stolen in the past.

Zero cool, if you are going to make a set how much will you charge if I wanted to buy some from you ?

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

As for the price, it will be the price of the plastic including a little extra for any failed prints plus a beer and postage where appropriate. ;) I guess I should point out that motor works sell the official ones, £12 I think but I'm not sure if this is for one or two??? The link is above for those.

Ill model the part up and share the 3d drawing with the group, you can either then print yourself or Ill work out how much its gonna cost me to produce, I'm happy to make other people them and in custom colours if so required.

Im thinking of customising a few of the plastic parts on my GS, starting with this component which I have been missing. Im undecided on colour, yellow or luminous green maybe. There are already yellow highlights on the bike so that might be the route.

As another project in mind I had the idea of creating a crud protector for the alu panniers for my 1150, the locks are forever filling up with crud. I popped into Rainbow a few days back and was pleased to see that BMW had got to the idea before me and are now producing a plastic crud stopper for the locks on the brand new GS..... a decade late for my 03 1150GSA.

well the finished articles were printed in PLA and have lasted the test of time so far.

My bike is garaged so admittedly they might not last as well in the rain but seems good. I ended up printing them with a hole in the middle to save print time and stop them catching rain.
