can you tell me what this is?

so over this week I decided to spruce the old 1150 up a bit, I took front wheel off and stripped the brakes to clean and put new pads in. Did the necessary painting cleaning etc. Now reassembling and found the picture below from the hole in it it must be from the brakes however I only have 1. So am I missing one is it something else that has been stuck to the bottom of my magnetic tray for ever any help mucho appreciated.

It's a tab washer of some description. The tab will seat between or against a 'stop' to prevent rotation of a fastener.

I have only remove caliper bolts and front wheel spindle, the brake pad screws.

It is a washer that goes on (or under) main positive cable connection at the starter. Gotta get some credit for this one.

I thought that, even removed starter cover, but not had starter off for about 6 months, must have been stuck on my tray then. cheers

I'm not convinced but I'm sure it's not the end of the world to ride without it.

That washer is steel. The one in the OP's picture is either copper or brass. The earlier models which do not have the jump start MOD, had a copper washer similar in shape and size fitted to the starter motor positive terminal.

I'm agreeing with you. I have a spare one (washer) floating about at home, and the number of times I've had my starter motor off and on, the image of that washer and it's position is imprinted on my mind.

I just did the jump start post mod recently so I know the part intimately, but I did check on the bike to make sure it is not the rear caliper washer just in case before I posted.

But I think that Can you tell me what this is? is a good name for a thread. Maybe we make a game out of it.

definitely not the rear caliper front bolt mount thingy, I agree with those that say it is off the starter.
