Greetings lads
I am flying my F800GS to Europe from Canada in early July for 6 weeks of touring and will need the 6000 mile service while in the UK. Planning to hit the west coast from Plymouth (after crossing from France) , head on over to Ireland for a west coast ride then back across to Scotland, all the way up to the Isle of Skye. My guesstimate places me in the Glasgow-Fort Williams area near the 6000 mile mark.
Any recommendation as to where I should get my bike serviced in that area ? I would call 3-4 days in advance to schedule the service. I spotted Douglas Park Motorrad in Glasgow. Are they any good ?
Thanks y'all.

Please note : A lot of dealers are booked up weeks in advance in summer. my dealer in Yorkshire 3 weeks lead time. :thumb

Bertrand, there is John Clark BMW Motorad in both Dundee and Aberdeen. They are good also but better give notice. I recently booked my GS in for a service, it was a week waiting time then but they are helpful. If you want I could go and ask what the minimum waiting time would be

Thanks for the heads up on planning ahead and the recommendations.
IB, I would appreciate it if you would do that for me. I can work around 1 week or 10 days because we will know pretty exactly when to call as we want to spend at least a week around Skye/Toridon/Fort Williams to bag a few Munroes. That is if we ever leave Islay. I am having dreams about Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Ardberg...
:-)

Ocean BMW in Plymouth can recommend. Helped me out on my way home from Portugal with a sick GT a couple of years ago and they seem to have a good reputation. In Manchester can recommend Williams as a main dealer but if you don't mind an independent try Adventure bike Warehouse top service and good prices. But has been mentioned all can be very busy so try and make a booking in advance and allow a couple of days for service and any items that could crop up during service.

have a good trip.:thumb

Bertrand, I spoke to John Clark in Dundee, they can do it with a weeks notice preferably, although they are prepared to get short notice breakdowns anyway. They are very helpful. Their telephone number is 01382815993 (Dundee) or 01244335533 (Aberdeen). I live in Dundee but am originally from Bowmore on Islay, my Mother still stays there. You will enjoy the trip, I hope the weather is kind to you. If you choose to come to Dundee let me know and I'll meet up for a chat, e-mail is [email protected]

Awe the best

Mike at BMW motorad cardiff.

You can get serviced on your way to Ireland.

Play your cards right and I'll stand you a meal ;-)
I live 4 miles South of M4 west of cardiff

Try steve smith at dalkeith. The Glasgow branch has only been open a few months. Get smithy to do it trust me he's been round the product an awfully long time .

I get mine serviced at Cooper BMW at Boldon, nearest city is Newcastle - upon - Tyne.

All of the staff are bikers and whilst it's a official BMW dealership the prices are almost bearable...

4 weeks behind us

Hello from Denmark! Motorrad Central took good care of us in Edinburgh. We are now in Denmark and we take a ferry to Stavenger tomorrow (Norway).
Many good recommendations from this site were followed. The best was the Langsdale to Elksdale mountain pass road. Very thrilling 2up and fully loaded! The F800GS is a really good tourer 2up. We are 5 kgs under the maximum preload and I ride 4 revolutions short of maximum preload.
So far : northern France, GB, Northern Ireland, Scotland up to Skye, NL, Germany and Denmark.
Cheers !
