Canbus freaks me out !!!!

I bought an Exide for mine. They make the OE BMW batteries. The OE one lasted 7 or 8 years, but I don't know how the previous owners looked after it.
Mine does live on an optimate (actually, a LIDL's equivalent) though.

I stick my bike on an optimate ( direct to battery) once every 4 to 6 weeks, just to get it back to full charge.

Gave it a few hours tonight as I'm taking the bike to work tomorrow.

When fully charged I took the bike for a run around the block earlier..... Very lazy to start, so I think the battery is on its way out. (Late 2010 bike with 19K miles)

So I'm thinking, I recently watched a thread on here and am on the hunt for a proper Motobatt for the GSA.

EBay or who's the cheapest. And has anyone a part number?

Just search Motobatt R1200Gs on eBay.

Cheers guys. I knew there were a couple of different part numbers listed as suitable on eBay.

9U or 12U.

Guessing it's a 12U cos it's more expensive. Will order one in the morning.

Agreed there is no significant battery problem and Ballistic is expensive. But to my mind spending £100 on an Odyssey might as well spent £150 on something 1/3 the weight and small enough to go under the petrol tank. It frees up space under the seat and can swap to the next bike.
The alternative is a cheap lead lump from China and change it every couple of years or be fussy with an Optimate every night.
I really feel the high spec lead acids are the dinosaurs. AGM is still lead acid after all. And they are ferkin heavy
The Ballistic 8 cell will easily swing an R1200 but in cold weather it needs to warm itself before delivering full cranking power so an 8 cell hasn't got enough capacity for really cold starts. If bike is laid up over winter an 8 cell will do. If it's used all year around fit 12 cell.
There are vids on YouTube of cold starts with LiFePo battery.
