Canbus not powering sat nav ??

Hi guys,

Got bmw to wire in the canbus to satnav cable for my garmin 550.

And it powers the unit when the ignition is on. That bit is fine, But when i start the bike it goes into battery power and wont charge

Anyone have any ideas??

I leave for france tomorrow morning, oh the joys !

No idea, sorry.

But as a temporary idea, you could wire the nav directly to the battery.

But try starting bike and then plugging it into the holder?
Is it tripping the canbus?

I have no tools to do anything atm but it may be a case of wiring it into the trickle charger or something, ill just have to buy some tools and then bin em ! Grrr

Sounds like another 550 having power issues ... keep your unit charged up when off the bike if you can!

Sadly i have no power or usb cable !

Popped into coopers bmw in tunbridge wells, the mechanic here thinks the HIDs are drawing too much current on start up which is tripping the nav.

So for now ill be taking the nav in and out so it charges. When i get back ill think about removing the hid's so it charges properly.

Mystery solved, at least its charging the unit
