Hi all,

I've got a small pocket loox n100 that i want to mount on the bike. i have found a handlebar mount for it so that bits sorted but I would like to have it powered from the canbus socket in the cockpit... I have had a very quick look on here for info but can't find any. (maybe i'm not looking hard enough.)

the device and usb powercable look like this:

photos taken from Ronnie 69...

if anyone could help or at least point me in the right direction, i'd be grateful.

Canbus is 12V, the USB will be 5V, normally 500mA but some items are more.
If it charges from the PC it'll be ok with a 500mA unit.

Best to get a USB car charger (that runs from the cigarette lighter) and modify it to run from the bike.

Bit of bodging will be required.

I'm shit at bodging so thats going to be a last resort. i'd be suprised if such a cable didn't exist - off the shelf....

thanks for the info though.

The review from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/navigon-pocket-loox-review.php said "Very good battery life (even with playing MP3’s while navigating)" So perhaps you could just charge it overnight from the mains or from the supplied automotive charger via a standard 12v cigarette lighter run directly from the battery

I think the world now needs a 12-5v USB cigarette charger of the BMW (ISO?) genre

only cable i have found so far that MIGHT do the trick is from touratech and wires directly to the battery. but for just short of £50 i think thats a tad expensive!

the hunt continues.
