Richard, can I ask if you deleted the May proposal thread?
I made a suggestion way back for a meet in London as per the criteria.You then decided for whatever reason to ask all for their ideas when one was already suggested. I did not hear any negative feedback.
To me a bit strange…. But I am sure you had your reasons.
Now thread has been removed completely.
I said I’d give way to better ideas but is that a reason simply to delete the whole thread which frankly I think is rude….
Fine by me but it does send a message that any ideas first require your vetting which in the spirit of the forum does not seem right so indeed I will now step out and let my betters make arrangements.
I will not be available in May now so the point maybe mute although arranging a meet up for others even though at the last minute you yourself cannot attend should.not be an issue and can always happen.

You couldn’t now make the 21 May date (as you are now travelling) and / or nothing seem to have been arranged for the Chinese in Soho suggestion you made way back in January. In your post of this morning you said you were happy to stand aside. We therefore required a location for May or another date. Old Rat very kindly (and quickly) came up with a change of date and a location. It’s pragmatic to delete the 21 May in its entirety and insert the June date in its place. The alternative was to leave both dates in as separate threads, which would doubtless confuse more than one of us.
All the dates from the start of the year are here, created last year as we all agreed it was a good idea to space them at roughly 6 week intervals and / or get some dates into bods’ diaries.
When we last met, we thought it might be a good idea to get some future dates put down, spaced at roughly six week intervals, commencing in January.
January 15th
February 26th
April 9th May 21st — Now June 4th - CANCELLED
July 2nd August 13th - CANCELLED
September 24th
November 5th
Chrimbo bash 17th December
Obviously, there’ll need to be a venue for each gathering, starting in January, so put your thinking hats on, please.
Just a reminder that everyone and anyone is free to chose a location and make the booking...
Lots of dates left before we close the year and lots of opportunities for people to arrange things. By all means put the Chinese meal (or anything else) into any one of them. Or if someone has a whizbang idea for, say, the November date but it can’t be on the 5th as they are letting off bangers and waving a sparkler, then let’s move it.

How do you know there was nothing arranged for Dinner?
I actually did have ideas already but seeing as the April date was only just yesterday I thought I’d wait before advising and posting. We still have over a month.to arrange.
Fact that I cannot now join is irrelevant as arranging and attending are 2 different things…
Anyway I think I made my point….
The thread did not need deleting and could have continued.
No doubt a new May thread will be copied and pasted shortly so hope a suitable venue is found
I’ll reschedule this and put a little more effort into promoting something next time.
No excuse but I’ve been out of the country for a while, just got back.
