Now Cannon's have come in for a bit flack over the years, I myself joined in a one point.
However, I think things have moved on.
During the 12k service a 'minor oil leak' from the rear shock was reported and, as the workshop chap pointed out, leaks don't get better and recommended it be replaced. So the old girl was booked in and the job done yesterday.

Now at less then 2 years old and with 12k on clock I'd rather not have had the problem, but as the warranty covered the cost who was I to argue !
Some say the rear shocks are a weak point, but now I've got a shiney new one that will see me through another couple of years.

The point of fact is that the service from the dealer was good, the problem was sorted with no fuss and I'm a happy chappy.

The ONLY shame was was having to collect it this morning in gail force wind and torrential rain. Surely they could have ordered some sunshine :thumb

Wouldn't you have expected them to replace the shock as it was still within the warranty period?

Plus wouldn't you have expected them to do a good job on the service?

Am I missing something here re Cannon's?

Looks as if it was covered by warranty? :nenau

Probably couldn't do it on the day as they didn't have the parts in stock.....??

Good to hear some positive feedback about Cannons. I, unfortunately, gave up on them years ago.

i bought my gs from cannons and cant fault them, from what i can gather there is a different manager and adam one of the sales guys has returned from selling cars and is a top bloke, on the first service which i did not pay for they fitted head covers fenda extenda and sat nav bar all for free! also have offered to give my bike a full check before i go to spain in sept for free, so as much as ive read about some bad things ive only experianced good things.

Just bought an Approved used 1200GS from them.

Faultless customer service and courtesy. Borrow the bikes as long as you need for a test run. Any quibbles, they have rectified without question.

Purchase backed up with a thank you letter and useful contact numbers etc.

I went back to them with a couple of things, which aren't strictly warranty issues, there is slight melting on the rear light cluster that is easy to miss, until you come to polish it with Q tips (yes I know I'm sad), which looks like a fag lighter job rather than a faulty, so they won't get their money back from BMW. "No problem we'll change that...that's why you are coming to an approved dealer."

So far so good. Well done Cannon's :clap

(BTW, I have worked in customer service - I was Global Customer Service Director for an international company at one point in my life - so I know both sides quite well, and feel confident to say that this has been good - I don't normally say much on such things!)

Came back from my Spain trip and the exhaust vario would not close properly I droped it into cannons and the next day replaced with new no fuss! That's the sought of service I like.

Cannons IME have replaced failed shocks without any fuss under warranty, as they should and any other BMW dealer.

Consistent warranty backup / support from BMW and the dealer network is key.
