Did a stupid thing involving fuel.Anyway.....bike wouldn't start so BMW assist pick it up from home at 1pm,take it to Park Motorrad and get a message at 4.30 pm from mechanic Stevie to say that bike has been sorted, road tested and is good to go.
Been buying new BM's for over 30 years from good, bad and vaguely indifferent dealers during that time but was very impressed with the Service from Parks particularly during this busy time.

Details are that its rubbish getting old but I'll really start to worry when I start putting coal in the tank.my only defence is it was dark,I had just travelled down from Applecross,I think BP are using greenish covers on their super diesel covers,I was tired,it was dark.
Good old gs still managed over 90 mph on the motorway with about 7ltrs of the black stuff in it for 10 miles to home. Didn't run as good as usual but it was only the next day when it wouldn't start that I smelled a rat which was an achievement in itself given the Smell of diesel hanging in the air.Even as the bike was being taken away,I couldn't believe I had been so stupid.did I say it was dark?.

Just out of interest . How much did your error cost? (Pal did the same recently and was landed with a whacking bill!)

Austria 4 weeks ago

My colleague, who, with the aid of an artificial leg rides a Ducati Adventure filled it with Diesel.
Including the shove back to the filling station to refill with something slightly more inflammable, the delay cost us 40 mins. He did, however, have the taste of Diesel in his mouth for hours afterwards.

A similar thing happened to us when touring the wilds of Turkey in 2010 . . .

The group were filling up and the first guy used the green nozzle . . .

I managed to put one litre in before the attendant came running up waving his arms - Petrol (essence/benzole) had a pink nozzle. It seems there is no standard colouring scheme there :blast.

I filled the tank with petrol and the 1150GSA didn't notice the one litre in the mix.

I ran Injector Cleaner through it when we got back to Greece as it had been fed some dodgy stuff in Turkey :augie.

It took us a while to drain and re-fill the F800GS that had its tank filled :D.

Bob.

Hi, total cost was one hours labour and a load of biscuits for the workers. You could see how producing a bike in that condition to an unscrupulous dealer could open the gates to a whole load of abuse on their part . However Parks were first class.

I put a half a tank of diesel in my K1300S, topped up with 97RON, rode for an hour before taking my advanced test :-)

It was a bit lumpy to start with but we got there in the end.
