The finance deal on my 06 GSA is up in July......

.....got a letter advising me of this this morning from Cannon stating this fact, and asking me to contact them to help in arranging any future finance on a new bike.......

.........yea right!!

....very wishful thinking on their part I think!

Although I'd consider a change to a new GSA...it'll not be from Cannons!

Am I to assume you are not happy with Cannons?
I met a guy recently at SBW Hertford, who lived in Braintree but wouldn't use Cannons for serivicing....he would rather ride to SBW Hertford!!

Perhaps Mrs Cannon will be along shortly (Under the guise of a normal user name. I think it was 'Willow' last time...) to explain their side of it.

Then again perhaps not :augie

What goes around... :rob

I was just interested as a new(06) GS owner, I need to find a good dealer to do service work.. I have used Jim Cray in the past, but he doesn't particularly like working on the 1200!!!!

Indeed...but not so much not happy, just won't have anything more to do with them...poor service, poor after sales, and poor servicing....not really much to be recommended!

I bought my GSA from there 3 years ago....I put a deposit down after first seeing them at the bike show when the model first came out.

I approached Cannons, and Balderstone's......Balderstones said I would be given a bike in their 2nd delivery as they already had deposits to cover the first batch....Cannon promised I'd be given a bike from their first delivery, so I went with them.

However, after the model launch, and the first deliveries were made, I was still without a bike despite constant phone calls....and then finding out other Cannon customers had already got their GSA's from them!...and so now I had to wait for the second delivery to come in!!!

So either I had amazingly dropped in the ordered list, or I was lied to in the first place to get the order?!?!?...(at least Balderstones were honest, and I would have accepted the wait!)

Eventually I got my GSA...but then there was the long wait for the BMW paniers!

Admitedly these were in short supply...but again I was told I was fourth in the list, then third, then second, then top....then I waited, and waited...but after nearly 5 months I still hadn't got them!! ( I even had to cancel a trip to the Balkans cos they hadn't arrived as promised)

By this time I realised I was being fobbed off!!

And as I was not 'local' and not physically calling in, only calling on the phone, I realised I was being ignored. Others were getting their panniers...I wasn't! But travelling constantly to Chelmsford/Braintree just to throw my weight around really wasn't a viable option.

Eventually I was told they would be in by a certain date, so I arranged to go and pick them up, only to be called to say they still weren't in!!

I'd given up at this stage....and although I'd paid for them, I called around and managed to get a set (although dearer) from the helpful people at Balderstones, got a refund...and then awaited the top box........

...this again became a saga....

The first one came in, with my name on it...but without the fixing plate...so that was ordered...but by the time that came in they'd sold the top box to someone else!!!

More than annoyed by now I again waited, phoned, and pestered.

Then I called the parts one day, asked if they had any top boxes in?...one they said....(so why hadn't it been ear-marked for me then???:banghead:)....so I explained who I was, gave my name, and made sure they would hold it for me in my name......

.......the following day I walked up to the parts counter, asked if they had any top boxes for a GSA?...one they said...I'll take it I said.........bought it..(so if someone else had been 10 minutes earlier, walked off the street and asked I'd have had to wait all over again!!!).....so then went and did my nut to the salesman who I'd been dealing with through-out tthis fiasco!! :rocketwho

Also mentioned the fact that I'd ordered white lenses and didn't get them when the bike was delivered......he said he'd forgotten to, and owed me the 30 odd pounds they were to buy as factory fit items....err, no, I want white lenses!....but they are over a £100 if I order them now!!.....not my bloody problem I said!!

I will admit the salesman I dealt with has since left, but I think all round they were inept and unhelpful.....things may have improved, but I won't be back.

I got all the parts I'd paid for, then never set foot in the place again...and won't!

Balderstones now get my custom, and are a breath of fresh air, and deserve credit.

I've also had some dealings with Lind in Norwich which has recently opened, and they have been very helpful and efficient too.

All in all....would I recommend Cannons?....that would be a no!!

This sums it up for me too - after a year of waiting for parts that seemed to be available else where I gave up.

Every service they did wasn't without problems and some people I dealt with had no issues with making promises they had no chance of keeping.

There were some issues with poor workmanship too so in the end I've moved all my business to Lind Motorrad in Norwich.

There are no circumstances in which I would have anything to do with Cannon again.
