Annoying thing keeps happening on my laptop where I cannot access my internet homepage, it just keeps skipping to a malware site which insists I then download and purchase software to remedy the problem! Doesn't matter what I set as my homepage it just keeps jumping to this site!! I'm running Norton anti-virus.

Anyone got any ideas as to how I can stop this from happening?

Cheers
Jim

I've just done this on my mates laptop and it can be a right pain in the a*se

You have spyware.

Now you have to figure out which one.

Install and run Spybot

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

and Adaware

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/download_and_buy/product_comparison_chart.php

both are free.

If this works, fine

If not start you pc in safe mode and run both again.

If this still doesn't work google the offending item (where your home page opens to now) and look for a discussion board about the item as someone somewhere has probably had the same problem as you.
you may have to run another other progs like "hijack this" which is very effective but you have to be careful with it.

Can you post the name of the website/software you home page is now going to.

Get rid of that bloody Norton shyte as well fer gawd's sakes :nono

Do a search here for it and see why ;)

As mentioned previously here, get a copy of HiJackThis and run a scan and save logfile. Post logfile on here for analysis if necessary.

Cheers guys, useful info and I'm now on the case. Its going to the site aprotectservice.com and mentioning a fake worm called w32.myzor.fk@yf
