I was dreading this day!!

I am a bit of a computer luddite, and it takes me bloody ages to download this and that, etc etc.

I have registered my new 660, There are no new updates to be had I am told, but when I turn on the sat nav I get the message 'cannot unlock maps' ??

I can 'ok' this message and seemingly carry on ?? but what do I do now (please ... pretty please ... about to chuck the feckin' thing out the window .. )

:aidan

Grrrrr Feck feck feck

I tried earlier - 20 mins of music then the line went dead.

These people really fuck me off !!!

I feel a rant coming on ...

I appreciate this may not be helpful right now, but I've used them before and they've been great. Although it was quite a wait to get through...............

I'm calm .... just .... :D

and when you get really pissed off go to various internet sites and download all the latest mapping (sometimes even before garmin releases it) , pop it on an SD card and away you go.... for free :thumb

I had to take my first Nav IV back as it wouldn't power on after an update. What a pile of shite. I would much rather the TomTom to be honest, but it won't work with the wheel.:blast

I know I know I must move with the times. I know i should embrace change and all that guff, but this sort of thing (on my third down load so far and have been on the phone to garmin..) drives me feckin' nuts :blast

And it's mostly 'cos I know i'm shite at it, and there's a sort of fear of modern technology stuff .. :D
Ohhhhhhh .... Gawd it does my head in ...

So what did they say??

Giles in the box that came with the 660 there should be a yellow slip of paper , apart from " important save this information" in several languages you will find the serial number of your unit, a registration code and an UNLOCK CODE, the code should be 20 characters, use this to unlock your maps on the pc.

HTH

Giles, I feel that I ought to post some useful advice, having only recently been through the process myself. However, I am not that sure how I managed to get my maps downloaded/updated and my new BMW Nav IV registered etc etc. The Garmin software really is awful and it was all a bit hit and miss, to the extent that I am not even sure I could succesfully do it again! Good luck
