Bought my latest Zumo 660 in July this year. Loaded my MP3's as usual and every thing worked fine.
Tonight I thought I'd change the music stored on there so connected to my mac, deleted the music in the music folder and tried to add 160 songs. The computer kept saying not enough space on the garmin, So I started loading them in blocks of 20 to see where it would stop. Now I've had more than 160 tunes on their before so thought it was a bid strange.
When I started the Zumo & browsed for media I have got 472 songs on there, or more like 120isn songs 4 times each.
So I connected the Zumo to the mac again and deleted the music out of the music folder, start the Zumo again, still 472 songs.
Connected again and searched all the files loaded on the zumo to find the mp3 files, nothing there.
I also noticed that whilst in the media player screen of the sumo, usually you see a picture of the album cover or a music note, instead now I am seeing a Garmin office building.
I know you can delete the songs individually from the Zumo so I tried that. I deleted 1 by 1 down to 300, restarted the Zumo and sure enough I was back up to 472 !!!
Anyone else had this ?
Looks like it will be going back to Garmin for a software fix !!!

Found this online, worth a try.

You have to disconnect your device from the computer.

Turn on GPS for few seconds and turn off . Back to your computer connect the usb m, go to GARMIN FILES , MP3S and delete the songs. You should be able , i just did it.

Thats exactly what I'm doing, it has always worked before.
When I connect the zumo to my computer there are no music files there.
I have searched all the files on the zumo and found a file in the garmin folder named "Current 22.45.13.m3u8", its only 32kb but if I double click on it iTunes opens and 472 songs are added to my iTunes !
I have deleted the file on the zumo but when I start the zumo, switch off and connect to the computer again the file is there again !
Is there a drive on the zumo which is protected and cannot be delete ?

I don't do Mac but I believe that to fully delete files on an external drive (which is what you Mac sees the Zumo as) you need to empty the trash before disconnecting it.

A hard reset will delete all personal files but not sure if you have to reinstall maps.

Simples !. take SD card out of Garmin. Insert in computer and do it there. MAKING SURE THE WRITE PROTECTION TAB THINGY IS UNLOCKED.

+1, don't use the Garmin internal memory for music. Stick it on your Micro SD.

This is the information you need. It's a Mac thing, nothing to do with the 660.
