trying to change the clutch tension rod in front of my r850r . Rear wheel off. Rear shock off. Due to swing arm being in the way i cant get the bolt out the frame. Now that it's most of the way out i cant get the spanner onto at all. Please help. This is a road side repair and i'm using my phone to post. Thanks for any help.

if i remove the bolts that attach the swing arm to the frame will the drive shaft just slide out? If it does i'm in business. At bike now so if anyone has any suggestions.:)

well, in the end, I ran out of time. I didn't have the tools to take out the Full swing arm.

Only takes ten mins to take off wheel and shock. Should only take ten mins to take off swingarm. I've decided to recruit a second pair of hands.

When you said the bolt I needed to get to was accessible, you were telling the truth.

There's always more to the truth though!

Bet I gunthered the bolt top or something. Must say, I hate threadlock. Nastty stuff. Makes a job that should be possible, impossible.:rob

Stupid bolt probably hasn't been removed since it was made about nine years ago. Damn grubby down there too. Must take care of that. Final drive is defiantly leaking too. I wonder if my land lord would mind if I designated a corner of my flat to my motorcycle?

I've been told it IS possible to simply remove the bolts and pull off the final drive. Can be a bit tricky to put back on but you just turn the rear wheel and it should slide on. That's from a lad who's done a few shafties over the years. Knowing bmw, it'll require a new wrench or some thing.

I used a 13, 14 and 16 mm wrench today. Plus a vice grips, the wheel iron and about three elastoplasts.

Don't know why I bother really but thought I'd post my learning today. Just gotta get the bike back on the road.

I'll post what happens next. It's a bit close to chrimbo for this malarky. I just moved to the other part of the city too!!!! Guess where the bike is:blast
