Its a 03 twin spark and its missing and surging at around 3k revs - so I figure start at the beginning and check the plugs.

Cant get the plug caps off!! - the puller tool just wont keep a grip and I dont want to use a screw driver or anything.

Maybe Im missing something cause even though this is the fourth GS Ive had - I've never had to check the plugs - Crazy I know :)

Any thoughts?
Cheers

WD40 round the sides to loosen it they can get stiff if they are corroding.

I hold the plug tool around the plug so it doesn't flex off.

use a couple of screwdrivers, or a length of cord :thumb2

screwdriver works for me, just protect the rocker box cover with some thick paper when prising off.
I would also suggest puting some red rubber grease on the rubber surrounds of the coilpacks, or some ACF50.

Thanks folks - some valuable info here
Will try it again and report back

Cheers

Thats a shame about not wanting to use a screwdriver, otherwise i'd have told you how to get them off. :blast

never mind, keep on trying with the tool that doesn't work.

The useless puller tool was missing from the toolbox when I bought my 1100 so I bought one. I then discovered that it is indeed useless and I should have saved my money. I now use a screwdriver or a piece of string...

1100/1150 single spark puller works with no problems ?.

It's the twin spark tool that's absolutely hopeless :D

Could well be operator error then :D it keeps slipping off when I try to use it (unless I bought the wrong one?...). To be honest I can usually ping the caps off with my fingertips - in fact the puller is buried somewhere in the garage now having been thrown away in a dummy spitting incident :D

Screwdriver and a length of string did the trick - eventually!
They were well and truly stuck in.
But new plugs are in - liberal coating of ACF50 and alls well with the world.

Thanks folks :)
