Iphone5 entering my house anytime soon - Yeah, I know, but I do like apple products for their simplicity and my contract was up anyway...

..so, I've got a lovely sony docking station thingy which plays my music rather well too - problem is its designed for the iphone 4 and I can't find anywhere that sells the adaptor needed so the 5 can use the unit.

Anyone know of anyhwere that sells one (and not for silly money) :nenau

apple.

AFAIK any other adaptors, IF you can find any, will only charge. i dare say that fully functional 3rd party items will be along in due course, but i doubt they will meet the newer, more stringent "Made for iPhone" approval.

it's not just a case of swapping pins between old and new. there's chips in the adaptors.

I would advise looking at adaptor cables right now. The Apple adapter wouldn't work with any of the docks in our house because the phone isn't physically supported and either the phone, the adapter or the dock would quickly be damaged - most likely either the adapter or the phone.

You should be able to play music through an appropriate adapter but because of the internal electronics needed, it's not going to be cheap for a while yet - expect upwards of £20 for some time. Video seems to be off limits for the moment.

they were supposed to be available in october. at least that's what they said when i was pre ordering an iphone 5.

the fact that they hadn't got any available then made me cancel the order

the cable adaptor is currently listed as 5 - 7 business days.

Thanks - I'll keep on looking, some cheaper ones should be appearing soon :thumb2
