HI.... is it possible to take a bike to the Cape Wrath Lighthouse? I see you can get a mini bus.
Is it possible to get there on a bike using the light house road. I would like to do this trip this summer.

Cheers:)

I didn't think you could drive your vehicle on Cape Wrath unless you knew a man with a boat and had special permission, it's a long walk or a minibus as I understand it....:)

Welcome to the wonderful world of Tossers, Mr Adventure.

It's not normally possible to take a bike across to the Cape. The ferry is a small fibreglass boat (think Orkney 19ft fishing boat), but they do have a large pontoon which they use for taking the minibuses over at the start and end of the season - and also MOD vehicles.

We went across last year as part of a group after negotiating a deal with the ferry guys, you may be able to do the same..but it'll cost.

Ferry no: 01971 511343

I'll edit in the relevant ride report (with piccies).

Good read and looks like you all had a good trip . I've riden nearly all roads in the North , but never been to Cape Wrath.
I've also had a couple of GS's but seen the light a few years back and got a FJR:eek:. With lack of use i sold it and now have .............................a XT:augie.
As said Cape Wrath is one of the few places I've never been too.
Many thanks for the info Klanky, I've made a note of the Ferry number.
Hope to join in on a few of your runs this year. I was a member of the forum a few years back (GS Days).

Glad to be of assistance.

Just keep your eyes on this section (SS) to see what runs/meets are taking place.:thumb2

if you are going that way, there is a lady, who lives at the light house, who had gone for the christmas turkey and couldn't get back.
She might appreciate a lift if you are going that way, certainly her husband will be a bit peckish.

Bloody nutters....!
Damn sure I wouldn't be taking a 12k bike across the water on a pontoon.....sounds like the dogs nuts right enough :augie
