Car Battery

Has anyone tried fitting a small car battery in their non ABS GS? there seems to be enough space for something like an Exide Torque starter like what I used to have on my Neval Combo.
I'm getting seriously peed off by the inability of the standard battery in my year old bike,it just doesn't seem up to the cold weather,yet my rarely used 5 yr old Suzuki TLS with original battery fires every time without fail!!

The embarrassment of bump starting a one year old bike is getting too much!

I'm surprised that you can bump start it at all. I could not do that on mine. I only tried the once.
Why not put a different type of battery in it. If it fits whats the problem.
Let us know, I'd be interested but I have ABS, (if it makes any difference)

It sounds like you need to ride some more either that or you have got a duff battery. Mine can sit unsued for weeks with the alarm system armed and even after extremely cold weather it has never let me down yet.....famous last words. Yours is still under warranty I guess , so get back to your dealer and get a new battery if I were you.

Any chance of you getting over here for the Easter rally ?

Ritchie,luckily for me my garage is at the top of a very steep hill, oterwise I would not even attempt a bump start,mind you if I was that lucky I would have my garage at my house!

Hi Marc,I know, I need to use the bike more,according to my manual the battery should be taken out and charged if the bike is left for more than a month at a time,but you never do what it says in the manual...do you!!? My mates RT which is in my garage also does the same except he has an alarm and I don't.

I had just put it down to one of the joys of ownership but I will take a trip up to the dealers and get it checked out (assuming I can start it!).

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the Belgium GS rally, I will be over the weekend of the Sat 3rd until Mon 5 th April for the Rednecks do, but due to the usual restraints of work and family I couldn't strech another weekend out of the trip,my wife and I differ on the definition of 'unreasonable'!.
