Hey,

Up in glendelough yesterday. Trying to get in and that tiny road jut past the coffee and ice cream stalls had a van coming at me and I've badly scratched up the side bumper trying to pass him. Didn't scratch off him, instead I scraped the wall. Quite deep grooves.

Can these be repaired? Anyone have any contacts/experience?

Painted bumper ?

If so, yes they can, by any half decent bodyshop

Filler, stopper, prep as normal, plasticiser in the paint, jobs a banana

Look up SMART repairs, there's load of places doing them. May be £100-200 depending on damage and most of them will come to your address or work to do it.

Thanks, I'll give them a shout and see what they say, I've been asking for a few quotes online over the last twenty mins or so. Should be interesting.

Bumper and wing damage....costs are mounting.. :augie

This is not my car, so it'll have to be done right. Any guesstimates going lads? Any of the irish lads got any good suggestions regarding repair shops? I've checked with Ricardo's suggestion but still awaiting a reply.

It's a pretty big area for a smart repair. Also, they will need to re-form the crease line. Could be a couple of hundred quid or Euro's.

I really don't mind paying the money lads. What I need is a recommended tradesman who will do a good job. The internet is full of people who can do it but god only knows if they are reliable or not.

Is there not somewhere in Dublin where there’s about a mile long road with loads of body repairers on it ?

A chum of mine is a paint rep and I seem to remember him telling me about said road. It it’s true, I could ask him who he’d recommend as he himself is a terrific painter and would know who to go too.

I'd really appreciate that Davy. I'm in touch with some lad from The smart body repair center but god only knows if he is any good.

Realistically, I'll not be getting this repaired until the end of next week, so there is no mad panic about getting it sorted in jig time.

Have a word with your local Peugeot dealer and ask who they use for smart repairs. They have the deal with lots - as cars are unloaded and moved about.

Good point. Heading down to where the car was bought now. I expect they will charge an absolute fortune. I'll let you know.

Just set fire to it, and tell your mate that some oik did it outside McDonalds (or whatever the equivalent is over there).:thumb

Right, I rang my aeronautical engineering Uncle. He knows a guy and assures me all will be well and a hell of a lot cheaper.

Tell you what though, the car is nothing but stress. Sitting in traffic, limited field of view, slow, trying to find parking etc. I'm going to have to work on my bird to go on the back of the gs. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Id guess 300 euros from previous experience but being in Cork I've nothing else to add.
