Cardo Scala Rider G4

Not used a G4 I have the older versions but seen a few.

G4 is very very big and looks a bit ridiculous. The older Scalas were much smaller. And the older ones tended to create wind noise. So the bigger ones must be worse. But your on a GS so it probably won't be noticeable anyway.

I can report that the older ones weren't worth the money. I had three pack up in one year. The older ones had non replaceable batteries. Two were replaced under warranty. One wasn't as it was second hand. If your interested in my tale of woe then you can PM me. But seeing as your after the G4 I'll leave it at that.

G4 to C3

I have the G4 fitted to my Schuberth C3, you have to use the adhesive pad that comes with the kit, once located in the correct position it adheres well. I use this effectively, the only real issue is that the boom microphone can be a bit of a fiddle to close the flip front and takes a bit of practice, but I have had mine for about 6 months now and works well.

I have mine on my C3, using the sticky pad. Had no issues with the boom mic and everything closes easily. No extra wind noise with it fitted, so happy as can be.

It's been fitted for about 10 months now - no absolutely chuffed to bits with it.

Thanks for the replies guy's

one more question......... is it waterproof:nenau

From memory I think they say it's weatherproof, so tell you to take it off in heavy rain. I never bother to take it off though and have never had an issue with rain getting in anywhere.

Not sure about the G4 but its predecessor the Q2 is not, tells you in the manual.
Having said that great bit of kit havent experienced any issues described above , as guy said for C3 you use the sticky pad , there are vids on u tube etc showing how to fit to a C3, you can buy an additional headset/mount with a longer boom mike which is a must for the C3, thats what I have , the standard one is not long enough, fowls on the helmet mechanism and not close enough to your mouth to be heard clearly.
Sporttouring on line have the accessory its about £40:flag

They are definitely weatherproof, providing you remember to put the cover back over the charging port. Mine and the wife's have been through many a rainy day - sometimes in excess of 8 hours and continue to work perfectly.

Brill, they arrived and are all set-up, bike to bike, GPS to headsets, phone to GPS. :thumb2:thumb2

I don't want to use my phone as the music source, so am looking for recommendations for a Bluetooth enabled MP3 player.

Mind you the quality of stereo sound from my phone to the headset is fantastic but don't want to drain the phone battery.

Any recommendations would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance.:thumb2

Regarding music input. Don't they ahve a radio facility?

If so you can listen to a radio. Or have a FM sender attached to your MP3 player.

Let us know how loud they are as I was never overly impressed with the MP3 sound on any of mine. Although the built in radio and GPS blue tooth stuff was always loud.

Maybe consider getting USB power into your tank-bag, if you use one. Phone can then be powered/charged and provide tunes as required.

Quite the authority aren't we. :bow

The G4 actually has a smaller profile than earlier models.

I have had both and the G4 is better.

Which GPS do you have? The reason for asking is that I have the Zumo 660 and find it perfect for MP3s. You can even control it using the Scala G4 to start/stop and skip tracks.

Remember one thing, the Scala remembers the volume level for each input (radio, music, GPS, phone) so if you find that for example your radio is much quieter than your GPS this could explain why.
