I'm thinking of removing my Autocom kit in favour of Bluetooth communications, and I'd like to ask if anyone has experience of the Cardo Q1 . I'd be using it together with a Zumo 660LM paired to a mobile phone, and the Cardo for Bluetooth music, phone communications and GPS guidance. The music would be MP3 files from the Zumo. My partner and I both have in-ear monitors which we would connect via the 3.5mm jack in place of the supplied speakers.

I'd want seamless communications with no signal drop-out or connection failures, and good sound quality. Is this degree of reliability to be expected from BT comms kit, and if so, would the set up I've described provide it ?

Interested to hear your opinions please.

Not used the Q1 but I do have the Q3 and I quite like it.

I mostly use it for talking to another rider. It works well 99% of the time, it does occasionally have "moments" but its nothing a switch off and on doesnt usually cure.
I think the Cardo Q3 allows music to be shared between rider and pillion.

For speech I have no complaints when using a boom mike on a Shark evoline with the jaw bone either back or down.

Q1

I have been using a scala Q1. for the last 2 years. I only need rider to pillion coms and tom tom gps instructions. no phone. no music. the vox drove me crazy. after the gps cuts in it takes ages to go back to intercom. too complicated to set up on the computer.
so now I have the vox turned off. and the channel is continuously open for speech. but it continuously drops out. I have to stop and switch it off and then back on.
I find the times I need to ask my wife if I am going in the right direction, it isn't working.
we have just returned today from the Czech republic on our F700 GS. and I must have stopped 10 times on the trip to switch the thing off/on. if it hadn't of cost so much I would have thrown it in the river. If anyone can recommend a simple intercom. that has the channel continuously open to talk. I don't use mobile phone or music. and I don't have to connect to a computer to make adjustments please tell me. thank you.

Tried Bluetooth stuff, found it very intermittent - so went back to an Autocom pro avi with Bluetooth adaptor to connect to 660 for music and phone iPhone paired to 660 as well , I find hard wired connection much more reliable also plug in phone to Autocom for radio/ music sound is better , keep it in tank bag and connect power to battery via a charger plug , haven't fitted my bike to bike radio connections/ bar button yet but don't see a problem. Pillion gets music and phone via cable too.
I find the sound is OK from 660 playing music not great - better quality straight from phone , plus the really really annoying thing is you can't adjust the volume from the 660 you have to adjust on the Autocom or phone- fiddly!
