Carnet's (Please reitterate)

Last time riding around Jordan, I was not asked for one at the border.

Is it a necessity for Syria or Turkey? Basically transiting.
I assume once in Europe via Cesme ferry to Ancona; there would be no need.
Bike 6 yrs old.

But, I would need some type of insurance at least to cover the distance riding to the UK on a Saudi plate. Can this be bought at the ferry terminal / port?

Definately no carnet required for Turkey, unsure of Syria although I know you do need one for Iran.
You should be able to buy insurance at all/most border crossings

When I went to syria 2 yrs ago no carnet was required.
